Recently I had the joy of photographing a few
newborns. It is one of my favorite categories in photography. The joy of a new life that has been waiting for over nine months to join us and what a blessing it is when they arrive and we get to hold them. In all of this busy-ness I recently realized that I had the same question in two emails about a newborn session.
QUESTION?: Is there any way we can get this newborn shoot done in an hour? Both future customers asking if what they read was true about needing more than just an hour to do this kind of photo session.
ANSWER?: Yes! You do need to set aside more than an hour for a newborn session. It would be amazing to get finished in just one hour, but that would be one very happy little client with a lot of patience. The reason why you need more than an hour and how long should we set aside for a your newborn to get photographed? You need to set aside a good three, yes three, hours to have your beautiful bundle photographed. It takes a very special environment to keep your baby happy while undressed and it takes just the right amount of soothing and nurturing. If you rush your baby you will have bad results. They will not be able to completely calm down and be put into the positions you always see and love. I wish it was that simple, but mommas and papas... have some patience and expect to spend a minimum of two hours and more than likely around three hours.
I'll touch up in my next blog about some things you should bring for your baby or wear in order to get the results you are craving from your newborn shoot.
