BACK UP BRIDAL LIST + WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY

This week I was getting ready for a photographers meeting in Seattle and my blowdryer started making horrible sounds and smelling very unappealing and it hit me.  How am I going to get ready when things break last minute?
What if a bride is using a flat iron and it breaks before she heads to her photo shoot or if a blowdryer breaks and you've got an important meeting.  What if it's something you need so small as a bobby pin or a piece of double stick tape for a bridesmaid dress? It's so important to come prepared!  Ladies... I suggest either making a package for yourself or appointing a bridesmaid/wedding planner/mom or anyone who you can deligate this tast to on your day.  It's one less thign to worry about.  Double are important and a good list of things you may happy to need incase it rains, incase it's time to reapply makeup, maybe your mascara runs.  A million simple things to be avoided.  Bring a list of all the items you may need for your special day or that meeting or just an engagement session you may have.

List:
Mascara

Comb/Brush
Hair Dryer
Curling Iron
Eye Liner
Eye Shadow
Bobby Pins (There's always a curl that falls out or those 3 hairs that drive you crazy)
Double Stick Tape(Girls busts change often so it's important to have it on hand)
Bandaids (You never know when a heal will rub you wrong)
UMBRELLA - not only may it rain, but if it doesn't it's still a really fun way to take photos and a great way to all color to photos.
10 to 20 $(You never know when you might need a little cash and something comes up)
Water
Tide Pen
Hand Towel
Kleenex
Pen/Paper

All good things to bring, you never know what you might need!

Thursday

Thursdays Thought

I've been sitting here thinking what should I photograph next. We're headed to Hawaii in a matter of days and I'm hoping to be inspired by the vast views of water and tropical nature.  Our daughter Alice is starting to crawl so we're praying she doesn't try to eat too much sand while we're there so I'm pretty sure I'll have many photos to post with a sand filled face on a 6 month old.  Hopefully the volcano is flowing and i'm able to capture that moment. The idea of being in a warm climate again is very exciting and I've been waiting for this moment since the heat went away in September.
I'll be posting while in Kona, HI and including photographs to match. I cannot forget about Terrific Tuesday.

Suggestion of the day!
Less is more.  Pack less amounts of clothing and plan diverse outfits that can be joined together.  One pair of shoes that goes with 3 pairs of pants/shorts/skirts, one pair of sandals because we all know we have our favorite pair that gets warn over and over again.  Also, bring a key pair of pants, skirt, and shorts when going to a warm climate and bring multiple shirts and dresses to match. And remember to leave some space in your bag because you know you want to bring some clothes home. Also better to bring less, take home more!

Tuesday

Terrific Tuesdays - Helpful Hints for Photo Shoots

So this is my first tuesday of many to come that will be dedicated to terrific suggestions and information helping you get the most out of your photography shoot.  If you're going to be getting your photos taken whether it be for engagements, children, families or seniors, have a listen and see what would benefit you for the best results.

 Shoe Tips!
It's always best to bring multiples. You want to bring a minimum of two kinds of shoes if not three kinds of shoes.  It is best to bring a pair of boots, heals, and some casual shoes for the women. For the men out there a nice pair of dress shoes, a pair of casual shoes(not sneakers for running) and as a third option a pair of leather sandals or flip flops if it's summer time. Texture is always best, however sometimes it's nice for everyone to also just go barefoot.  Bare feet gives you something different and relaxed to work with.  Children especially look great with bare tosies in the summer.
