ANNIVERSARY PHOTOS + 30TH ANNIVERSARY

ANNIVERSARY PHOTOS? YES PLEASE!

First off lets just say "out with the studio" and "in win the outdoors".  Yes, that sounds quite silly, but these days studio photos for your 30th, 40th, 50th... You don't need them.  Lets consider the fact you probably are reading this and live in Washington State where we're located (just outside of Tacoma in the Puyallup Valley).  Do you know how many "sunny" days we have here in Washington each year on the Western side?  73 to 78 days of sun on average.  That means that all those other days although it sounds from the outside like all we have is rain... it's overcast, cloudy, muggy, maybe a little drizzly... but what that does actually is offer beautiful outdoor photography.  It may not be the best weather ALL the time here, but it does offer some beautiful even light on over cast days and we have such a beautiful green state (the evergreen state yes?) that there is always green SOMEWHERE.

These images are of this beautiful couple celebrating both their 30th anniversary and their very large extended family shoot. They were high school sweet hearts, married early and immediately began their family that began with one girl and has expanded to three beautiful daughters, two son in laws, three grand children and i'm sure that's not the end of it.  I hope that my husband and I look as in love in 30 years of marriage as these two.  God bless them.

All in all.. they wanted outdoor photos, they didn't want to sit in a studio in front of a black background where i posed them.  Nature is forever, natural is forever and not so sterile of a studio is definitely forever.

{ FAMILY PHOTO SESSION + FLOW RIGHT THROUGH MINI SESSIONS }

Just because you don't have a lot of time...  doesn't mean you can't capture some amazing family photos.  This family was part of a larger family photo session that included two other adult siblings, cousins and grandparents.  Each individual family got their "mini" session during this session after the large family photo was over.
I've posted the  images in order as they were taken.  First we started with the family shot as the kids will get restless after long and ultimately you want that shot as soon as you can.  I've captured one photo up close and another (the 2nd image in this series) further away.  The third image is much closer and at a higher angle to get those toddler eyes wide open and looking up.
In between the full family and the parent/couple shot you want to sit and play and enjoy your babies for a moment.  Give all kids of all ages a chance to break and not get burnt out on the camera.  These two images are one of the kids just sitting and playing so I thought "what a perfect moment" and captured the siblings and dad holding his little girl before on to playing with her brother.
The final set images are of mom and dad (of course a beautiful couple).  Starting with the "traditional" pose and having them in the same spot as the family photo and then moving in to a silly laughter moment capturing their still high school sweet heart romance.  The last, but not least couple images are more intimate position.  We brought her hair around and off to one side to give this image some framing outside of the posts that you now see are gone due to the tight cropping of the photo.
This session took a total of TWENTY minutes and that included moving, adjusting, posing and getting chidlren situated.  I hope you enjoy this lovely family photo session as much as I do!

COUNTRY ENGAGEMENT + CARLA AND BRYAN

{CARLA +BRYAN}

COUNTRY ENGAGEMENT

Bryan and Carla have got to be one of the sweetest couples I've ever met.  Bryan is a true gentleman and Carla is about the sweetest (but strong) gal you ever did meet.  Carla and I met for her bridal consultation to chat about their upcoming wedding and what she wanted out of a photographer and ultimately what she wanted at her wedding.  We "clicked" from the start and here we are 9 months later capturing her first extra special moments with her fiance' Bryan. Here is a little of Bryan and Carla's country engagement session and their story of how their "happily ever after" starter.

THEIR STORY:
Bryan and Carla are high school sweethearts. They have known and loved each other since they were 16 years old. This wonderful couple met through a mutual friend at a small pet store that Carla worked at. Bryan has always been a helpful guy, so he was there to help their friend take her new bird and all it's goodies home. While waiting for the store to close for the night, he came up with an excuse to talk to Carla. We immediately had a connection, and the next day, they went out on our first date.

Now it has been 11 wonderful years, and with all the ups and downs life brings, Carla and Bryan have never been closer. As they say "we are ready to take the next step in our relationship!" This couple is not just in love they truly are best friends. When you "know", you "know!"  As Carla likes to say "I couldn't imagine life without him"  Bryan and Carla are so lucky to have each other and cannot wait to share hands in marriage.

BEAUTIFUL SKIN+HEALTHY SKIN CARE+GUEST BLOGGING

Something to touch a little on and that is pretty important if you want to make sure you have that "long lasting beautiful skin" is to take care of it.  You want your skin to look beautiful in your photos and over all.  Take care of your health, your skin, from the inside out.  So often we think that taking care of our skin is just an external job.  Moisturizers, concealer, coconut oils, etc.  What about all those healthy things like blue berries and avocado for healthy skin?  What you eat directly effects what you look like.
Here are some tips from the amazing Orting Chiropractic Center in Orting, WA owned and ran by the wonderful Dr Troy Munson.  He and his staff have been providing care for years and taking care of people from the inside out.  Please take a moment and enjoy these tips and a little insight on what we really need for our bodies.

SKIN CARE + MONTHLY GUEST BLOGGING FROM

ORTING CHIROPRACTIC AND WELLNESS CENTER

With summertime approaching people race to their closets and dig out their long unseen, but not forgotten, summer wardrobe. Shorts, tank tops, sundresses and bathing suits are given a temporary new lease on life. But with this renewed attire comes the reveal of a lot of skin. We want to protect it, care for it and reveal soft, healthy skin. The best way to achieve this is from an inside out approach. Lotions and potions can only help to a certain extent. But what we put in our bodies can dramatically affect the radiance of our skin.

Often, skin integrity issues have to do with poor calcium utilization. Now, before you say “But I take calcium.” let me clarify. It isn't low calcium levels it's low availability to the cells. Calcium requires Omega 3 fats to 'carry' it into the cells. Namely, flax seed oil and beef fats. These fats increase blood iodine levels which is required for calcium use as well. Those that are iodine sensitive most likely have calcium issues. Iodine and calcium are interdependent in the cells of the thyroid, prostate and every layer of the skin along with the above fats. For this reason, flax seed oil has become known as the 'cosmetic vitamin.' Common other symptoms of this type of nutritional deficiency are; hypothyroidism, tremors, fast heart rate, fever blisters, acne, dry skin, prostate issues, digestive issues, stomach pain and nervousness. So, the basics for better skin is flax seed oil, beef fats and iodine. These support calcium usage and healthy thyroid activity leading to proper hormone balance, endocrine function, heart function and healthy, younger looking skin and hair.
And with the increase of sun rays, this basic dietary change also helps in preventing sunburns. A sunburn is hypervitaminosis D. In other words the sun's rays create vitamin D in the skin faster than your body can remove it, thus 'burning' the skin. So when getting sun there are two things that will help; first, know your limit to get you to the edge of pink and stick to it. And second to help remove Vitamin D from the skin faster requires calcium and ALA/GLA oil or flax seed oil, as described above. So, if you know you are going to be in the sun you can prepare our skin as well as help your body store Vitamin D for the dark winter months. In addition, studies have shown that Vitamins C, E and A may help protect against burns as well.
Until next time, drink plenty of water, eat proper foods, cover up as necessary and enjoy the beautiful sunny days that the Pacific Northwest puts on display.
