{THEIR STORY} The Penwell's

{THEIR STORY}

Jennifer had been spending her time working, being with her beautiful son and enjoying time with her family...  Her mother thought she needed to find herself a wonderful man to fill up her life.  As Jennifer and Colby had been each others fill of smiles and happiness for umpteen years, she found herself in the dating pool.  I'm not sure about you, but I'm not a huge fan of dating.  And until Sean came along I don't think Jennifer was too much either.  It is a lot of work! And who has that much time when they have a young man to raise up?  Well after meeting, dating and Sean popping the question... Jennifer and Sean began the rest of their lives together.  From the sounds and looks of things, they are a match made in heaven.

Sean and Jennifer were married about a year when they prayed and decided they might try to expand and connect their two families.  Jennifer has a handsome young gentleman and Sean, himself, has two adorable sons as well.  After not too long at all (to Jennifer's surprise and i'm sure excitement!) they conceived.  Jennifer and Sean are now expecting their baby GIRL any day.  Three boys and they are going to be adding a girl.  I would say this baby girl is going to be one protected and loved little sister and daughter. They will be naming their little angel, Grace, as I pray she will enter this world {gracefully}.

I met Jennifer at MOPS and had the pleasure of sitting next to each other on her first day there.  She was at least thirty weeks pregnant and glowing.  As we got to chatting I found out that she loves Scrabble.  I though well lets do a maternity and family session combined as this isn't just Sean and Jennifer expanding, but their three boys would be coming together joined not just by their parents marriage, but by this beautiful baby girl {Grace} whom was to arrive any week.

Jennifer and I began to chat about our love for scrabble and about using it as a theme for her maternity photos and family photos that I would be taking for them.  I put together a theme for GRACE.  From burlap I create a banner for baby Grace and from my vintage 1960's scrabble board that i'd inherited from my mother I put together baby Graces own scrabble board and holder filled with her name and Jennifer and Sean's wedding rings to signify their joining of family not just by their marriage and faith, but by this beautiful being that would be joining their family soon.

I hope you enjoy and get inspiration from their photo shoot.  Located in Orting, WA near Puyallup, Wa and on the Carbon

Cake Smashing + First Birthday Photography

About six months ago I was asked to photograph a child's first birthday party and get those wonderful Cake Smash photos and First Birthday Photos.  I was a bit reluctant only because I have been through a first birthday party with my child and she was less than happy or cheerful when it came time for cake.  We learned that one the hard way.  Tears and exhaustion on her face while in her high chair in the middle of August with the whole family and friends to witness the catastrophe. So after my own experience I decided that the next time we had a child turning one we would definitely do our own Cake Smash Photos in the studio without exhaustion and tears.  So I offered up the idea to my long time customer who wanted first birthday photos and she loved the idea.  I had done quite a few already, but never had done them quite as stylized as hers.  I absolutely love designing the color pallet and decor for the sessions.
Since then I've been doing Cake Smash Photos in the studio and parents just love it up along with the children smashing the cake.  The images on this post are of little Miss Jo who is turning one this week and is quite the dainty little thing when it comes to eating... Or so she lets you think!  Most children react with "you mean i get to eat this cake and smash it all over my face and make a mess?"  Best day ever!
All of the cakes that are featured at Cake Smash Photo Sessions are all made from scratch by the amazing Mystical Cupcakes owned by Rachel Young in Olympia Washington.  Rachel makes every smash cake and cupcake from scratch all the way down to the butter cream frosting made from home made butter(yes i said HOME MADE BUTTER) and vanilla beans.  Rachel doesn't skimp on the quality of any cake, even one fit for a queen and used for a toddlers party.

Tuesday

Newborn Photography + Paisley

If you are looking at getting newborn photos done for your soon to be little one or just arrived little one and a few more than 6 to 10 days has passed, don't fret!  Most newborns if you have a skilled newborn photographer can still get your baby to sleep and into most of the same positions as a week old baby.  Most of us photographer prefer babies to be between 6 and 10 days old, but there is no requirement for that at all.  I have photographed a baby who we couldn't get to sleep soundly at 4 days old and 3 weeks early, but a baby who was 2 months old wouldn't do anything, but sleep.  It is possible!  I recently have decided that I want to try to get my 7 month old to fall asleep and see what kinds of positions I can get her into.
Because babies are right out of the womb they are extremely bendy and used to being squished up all nice and tight. So when we are moving your baby around and positioning them into what looks like an uncomfortable position for one of us, it's probably actually very comfortable for them.
These images are of Paisley who is 22 days old in the photo and although she was reluctant for a scrunched asleep belly photo, she did great and was pretty quick to pose.  You just never know what you will get when you go to photograph ANY baby and between the white noise machine and the 85 degree room, they stay quite comfy

CHILDRENS PHOTOGRAPHY

Just had to post some childrens photos of my little girl Charlee who just turned 7 months old on Valentines Day.  It's a couple days late, but here they are!  Instead of going on Etsy and custom ordering a banner, I made one.  I make all of the banners for the Cake Smash Sessions that I photograph for first birthday photos and so I recycled this one from last weekends session.  I couldn't resist!

ORTING+SENIOR PHOTOGRAPHER

Here's some images from a recent Senior Photography Session by Katie Tyree Photography located in Sumner, Washington.  We considered heading to Tacoma for Bailey's senior photography session but we decided to look as local as possible.  Bailey wanted something different than barn doors and trees.  We headed into Sumner, Washington where there's a little restaurant called the Buttered Biscuit and behind that restaurant there's an amazing alley way that I love to use for local seniors that are wanting some diversity.  You can't get any more diverse than this alley.  It has a field full of grass, brick, wood, metal, stair ways, huge colorful walls and best of all it has these narrow corners and entry ways for those awesome headshots. Bailey is a redhead and as you can see, a gorgeous one!  This senior is actually a home schooled senior in the Puyallup, WA area.  She is going to be headed off to Corban, University in Salem, Oregon.
